About ICPI
History & Mission
The Intersociety Council for Pathology Information (ICPI) is a nonprofit educational organization that was established in 1957 by its Charter Members to serve as a central source of information related to pathology in the practice of medicine, in clinical and translational biomedical research, and as a career.
For over 50 years, ICPI has been well-known for annually publishing the ICPI Directory of Training Programs that provided details about residency, fellowship, and post-sophomore fellowship programs throughout the U.S. and Canada. In recent years, the utility of the online residency and fellowship program directories eclipsed their printed version and the last print edition was published in 2018.
ICPI supports awareness of careers in pathology through the Margaret Grimes Medical Student Interest Group Grants and recognizes medical students with distinction through the Pathology Honor Society. With the launch of a new website in 2021, ICPI brings together in one resource valuable information about medical student initiatives, pathology training programs, careers, events, and other professional development opportunities. Explore the website and learn more about the many opportunities available in pathology and laboratory medicine!
