The Stanley and Florence Patten Travel Scholarship supports professional development for Cytologists seeking to enhance their knowledge, attend national educational meetings, and connect with leaders in the field.
Current ASC Cytologist Members in their first 5 years of membership or ASC Cytologist Members attending the Annual Scientific Meeting for the first time may apply for the travel scholarship.

The Stanley and Florence Patten Travel Scholarship empowers Pathology Residents and Cytopathology Fellows with financial support to attend national cytopathology meetings and pursue career-accelerating educational opportunities.

ASC Members who will be in a pathology residency or cytopathology fellowship program at the time of the ASC Annual Scientific Meeting are eligible to apply.

General Instructions and Criteria
Below are general instructions for The Stanley and Florence Patten Scholarships.
- The applicant must be an ASC Member or an applicant for membership.
- A complete application, as specified in the instructions, must be submitted on the ASC website and received by July 15.
- A curriculum vitae that includes educational training indicating the time, place and degrees awarded, relevant awards and honors.
- Letter from applicant explaining why he/she should be considered for the Scholarship. Included in the letter should be the applicant’s statement of career goals (no more than one page) describing the applicant’s short and long term career goals and how the ASM Travel Scholarship will enhance these career plans.
