Teaching is an art – and Summa pathology residents experience the best in a unique setting. In this small community of passionate and qualified instructors, residents receive personalized training for today’s world of anatomic and clinical pathology in an academically-affiliated community pathology setting.
In a friendly, relaxed atmosphere, Summa pathology residents learn not only the skills and knowledge needed to pass the Board exams, they also learn how to communicate with clinicians, do surgical consults, participate in research, manage a lab, and run a pathology department. Additionally, with our academic affiliations, residents are provided the opportunity to be involved in the education of medical students, technologists, and more. Residents see a significant volume of specimen with a broad mix of the routine and rare from across all of Summa’s campuses as well as from our affiliates at Akron Children’s Hospital. Summa’s pathology residency program has a rich history – with over 50 years’ experience preparing residents for success in community pathology and fellowship training.
